Nikon has recently officially announced the D90, the long awaited successor to the relatively old D80. It, along with the newly announced Canon 50D, should set the tone for camera sales this coming Christmas season. Like the 50D, the D90 fits in a niche gap that caters from hobbyist enthusiasts to semi-professionals. Nikon has also announced a new optional kit lens to go along with it. An 18-105 3.5-5.6 VR AF-S.

Canon 50D and 18-200 3.5-5.6 IS Pre-Photokina Announcement

Well it seems to be official. Canon has now officially announced the Canon 50D, the successor to the 40D. The official specs are bang on with the leaked specs from a few days ago. Canon has also announced the launch of their newest EF-S lens, an 18-200 3.5-5.6 IS EF-S super zoom. Finally, Canon hobbyists now have a first party choice for a super zoom. Interestingly enough Nikon has also officially announced the Nikon D90, the long awaited successor to the relatively old D80. Both these new cameras should help boost sales for both companies in the coming months as they both do well to bridge the gap between hobbyist enthusiasts to semi-professionals.
