CN Rail and the Port Mann

So today, Terriyaki got the idea to take pictures of the Port Mann bridge. He showed me a bunch of cool pics from Flickr, and we thought we'd take a crack at it during sunset. Being that it's just about 10 minutes away, we thought we'd give it a shot today. Well, it was harder than we thought. Once we went down 148th street in Surrey, we found the the road that ran parallel with the Fraser River. We also found out that the whole length of the road was fenced with barb wire. Between the road and the river, we could mostly see trees, and we wouldnt' be able to frame a good shot of the bridge. The other side of the fence and further past the trees was the property of CN Rail. So we decided to just give a shot. We parked the car and walked down the road for about 10 minutes til we saw a gate. The gate was locked, but luckily, the fence beside the gate had a big hole in it. We walked right through. The sign said not to trespass and it was enforced by the CN Rail police.

So we walk right past the gate, and almost instantly we heard helicopters.. being the game nerds we are, we immediately thought of GTA IV when you access an area you shouldn't go to yet. Automatic 6 star rating - with helicopters and the SWAT team chasing you. In our case, right after we heard the helicopter a CNR truck. Luckily the guy was cool, and he said yes when we asked if we could take pictures of the bridge. We just had to stay off the rail road.

Well, we got to our shooting spot, off to the side of the bridge and a bit below. The sun was starting to set. We got a few shots off, and then trains start coming. Not only coming, but going back and forth infront of us, basically ruining our shots lol. This happened almost the whole time we were there. Trains just moving back and forth for 45 minutes.

All in all, it was pretty crappy, and we also thought Terriyaki's car got stolen, because we were parked in a pretty shady area.

We'll post pictures from our adventure soon. Gallery Up Here

PS. We know that the helicopter really wasn't after us.
