The Versa Pod was recently available at Black's for a mere $10, versus $20-30 for the Joby GorillaPod Original. Is it worth saving $10-20 if it doesn't work though? I'd say no. The Versa Pod comes in 3 funky colors. Pink, Light Blue, and Orange. Unlike the colored GorillaPod's the Versa Pod's main color is Pink, light blue or orange, with grey trim around each ball, rather than Black balls with a colored trim.

The Versa Pod works the same way, in that it has 3 flexible tripod legs, that you can use to wrap around objects and mount your compact digital camera. It also has a quick release mount so you can quickly remove and attach your camera from the tripod.
However the problem lies in the actual make of the unit. The legs bend smoothly, but aren't very stiff or sturdy. The result is a tripod that can't hold the weight of your compact digital camera! If it can't support the weight, then there's really no point of using the tripod. The compact digital camera used was a Canon SD450, which is pretty small and light weight.
Another thing is that the plastic felt very cheap and light weight. When shook, there was a rattling sound.
Having said that, there isn't much point to writing a full review. To some people, it may look cooler than the GorillaPod because of the colors, but due to the lack of proper functionality it really isn't worth it. Hopefully they will increase the strength of this, so that people will have more colors to choose from.
Pros
- Funky colors, for those that want bright colors
Cons
- Not strong enough to hold a Canon SD450 makes this pretty much useless
- Cheaply made plastic
Don't bother with this cheap rip-off. The Versa Pod Flexible tripod is not worth it. You're saving half the price, but will not even make much use of it. Read the review of the other Flexible Tripods for compact digital cameras - Joby GorillaPod Original and the Optex FlexPod. But make sure you buy the authentic Joby GorillaPod Original.
